the areas of your home you forgot to cleanWe bet we can tell you what areas of your home haven’t been cleaned in a long time. It’s not that we think your home is dirty or that we’re psychic, we just know what areas people forget most often. We are cleaning experts after all. Do you think you can prove us wrong? Check out the list.

Shower Curtain

Mold and mildew build up on shower curtains due to how much moisture is in the shower. In order to wash your shower curtain, just check out the care instructions. Most can be thrown in the washer and hung back up to dry.

Microwave touchpad

You probably clean the inside of the microwave fairly regularly, but you probably forget about the outside. Yout ouch the touchpad all of the time, and any germs or food particles on your hands get transferred. Wipe it down with an antibacterial wipe or spray.

Trash Can

Again, we’re sure you take out the trash regularly. However, how often do you take the time to clean the trash can itself out? Anything that leaks out of your trash bag ends up in the can, causing odors and bacteria to build up. Take the trash can outside and spray it with your hose.

Ice Tray

We know that you only put water in your ice tray, but you touch it often, and it comes in contact with anything else in your freezer. That’s why it’s important to pop your ice trays in the dishwasher every so often.

Cell Phone

We hate to tell you this, but your phone may actually be the dirtiest, germiest thing in your home. We use them all day, every day, no matter where we are. They come in contact with a variety of tables and other surfaces. Overall, they have a lot of opportunities to build up germs. Wipe your phone down!

We’re not talking about vacuuming here. Your carpets need a good professional cleaning every year or so. This is because your vacuum is picking up the larger debris, but leaving behind germs and allergens. Only a professional carpet cleaner like Chem-Dry Windy City can get your carpets truly clean.

Vacuum Filter

Although while we’re on the subject, you need to clean your actual vacuum too. Depending on the model, your vacuum will either have a replaceable filter or a reusable filter that you need to clean. Consult your vacuum care manual for instructions on how to best clean your filter, or your vacuum will cease to be effective.

Air Vents

Your air vents gather dust, and then they blow that dust all over your home. Give those a good clean and you’ll probably find you can breathe easier!

Doorknobs are one of the most frequently used items in a home, but no one ever thinks to clean them. Take a minute to wipe off all of the germs that have built up over time. Especially on the bathroom doorknob, as that can be one of the dirtiest surfaces in your home!

Sweeping and mopping are important. However, so is giving your tile a good, deep clean. We mean a scrubbing those grout lines kind of clean. If you don’t want to do this task yourself, our professional tile cleaner can take it off your hands for you.

How’d we’d do? Did we correctly guess the places you haven’t cleaned recently? Hopefully, we’ve inspired you to give some areas in your home a good deep cleaning!
